Zero advertising model — no behavioural targeting or data monetisation

User story

As a user of the platform, I want assurance that my behaviour, connections, and content are never used to target me with advertising or sold to third parties, so that I can use the platform without contributing to a surveillance economy.

Description

The platform operates without advertising revenue. No user data is collected for behavioural profiling, sold to data brokers, or used for targeted advertising. Data collection is limited strictly to what is required to operate the service. This commitment is enshrined in the platform's open-source code and governance documents.

Acceptance criteria

1. No advertising of any kind is displayed on the platform
2. No third-party tracking scripts are loaded on any platform page (verified by public CSP headers)
3. User data collected is limited to: account info, content posted, connections made, and activity logs needed for safety
4. Activity logs are deleted after 90 days — not retained for profiling
5. No data is shared with or sold to third parties for any commercial purpose
6. A data minimisation audit is conducted annually and results published
7. Users can download all data the platform holds about them at any time via a one-click export
8. The privacy policy is written in plain language — under 1,000 words — and version-controlled in the public repo
