Connection request filtering by sender type and intent
User story
As a professional receiving frequent unsolicited connection requests from salespeople and recruiters, I want to filter incoming requests by the sender's role or stated intent, so that I can maintain a network that reflects genuine professional relationships rather than a sales pipeline.
Description
Users can configure connection request preferences to filter by role type, company size, or stated purpose. Senders must categorise the intent of their request at send time. Users who frequently send ignored or declined requests are rate-limited. Connection request messages are required for non-mutual-connection requests.
Acceptance criteria
- Senders must select a connection intent category (colleagues, professional interest, sales inquiry, recruitment, other) when sending to non-connections
- Recipient can configure which intent categories land in their main requests vs a "filtered" folder
- Message is required for all connection requests — empty "connect" button is not available to non-connections
- Users who have >50% of requests declined or ignored in a 30-day period are rate-limited to 10 requests per day
- Recipient can block all connection requests from accounts whose primary role is sales or recruiting
- Connection request preferences are easy to find — not buried in settings
- Users can create a connection request allow-list by company or domain
Original request
Connection requests from salespeople and recruiters should be filterable. I only want to connect with people I actually want to hear from.
